Overview

Aspire Against The Tide

Location: Kapuk Dadap Settlement, Jakarta, Indonesia

Coastal areas have seen rapid migration due to economic development and job opportunities in the past. The rise of seawater is causing seaside villages across the globe to sink rapidly. Furthermore, the current global economic situation does not favor seaside communities. In a dark future, There is no clear future for seaside villages.

This project aims to solve population and poor living condition in coastal cities, starting with the settlements of Kapuk Dadap River in Indonesia, various simulations are conducted to explore various solutions to create a sustainable, flood-resilient settlement alongside a circular economy. With modularity in mind, this exploratory design accommodates seaside villages to organically grow in the future. New units and function can be added and taken down freely in the future. As the community mature, so will the village evolves.
